U.S. equities advanced as falling oil prices offset mixed inflation data and renewed volatility across the artificial intelligence sector. The Nasdaq Composite led the major indexes with a gain of 0.70%, while the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.65% and 0.66%, respectively. Across the Atlantic, European equities outperformed. The pan-European STOXX Europe 600 climbed 1.65%, led by Italy's FTSE MIB at 3.22%, while France's CAC 40 and Germany's DAX gained 1.61% and 0.50%, respectively. The UK's FTSE 100 also finished the week 1.0% higher. Asian markets, by contrast, struggled to find direction, with Japan's Nikkei 225 falling 0.85% and Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index declining 0.98%.
